Linux ATI driverAl ver esta noticia en Slashdot y profundizar en ella me sentí identificado y no me queda otra que pasara la voz. Veo a muchos poseedores de tarjetas gráficas ATI los cuales tiene un mal desempeño sobre Linux, al parecer según el artículo lo desarrolladores se topan con grandes problemas los cuales no se ven con los binarios de nVidia quienes realmente hace un muy buen trabajo.

Bueno a Michael Larabel se le ocurrió hacer una carta para ser enviada no directamente a ATI sino a los clientes importantes de ATI de quienes obtuvimos el producto, por ejemplo si tu tarjeta esta incorporada en tu laptop y es marca Dell pues enviar la siguiente carta (agregando los datos necesarios) a tu proveedor de hardware, si en caso compraste un Clon y le pusiste la tarjeta por tu cuenta la carta debería ser enviada a cualquiera de estos proveedores que el lista en su blog: ASUS, Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard, Tul / Power Color, HIS Tech, y Sapphire.

I recently purchased one of your [grafic card|| notebooks || desktops] that had contained an ATI GPU. While I realize your products are catered toward Microsoft Windows users as they are your largest consumer base, I wish to use this product with Linux. I had used the [el modelo y numero del producto ATI] with the ATI Linux drivers, and while they have improved a great deal recently, I still feel there is much room for improvement. The drivers in their current form run much slower under Linux than Windows, lack support for AIGLX (a visual desktop feature), and other features found within the Windows Catalyst drivers but not Linux.

I do realize you may not officially support Linux and that you have limited control over the development of these drivers, but I would kindly ask that you forward this comment to AMD and that you ask them to channel additional resources to the development of these drivers. In good time you should make Linux support from AMD a requirement. Another step that I would hope to see is including the ATI Linux display drivers on your support/driver CD. As the adoption of Linux on desktops continues to increase, I hope you are able to jointly improve your Linux presence with ATI/AMD.
